OUR WEBSITE IS UNDER ANNUAL MAINTENANCE TILL 30-OCT-2026. IT IS FULLY VIEWABLE BUT WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY MISSING DATA.

When someone searches for a business near them, the first thing they see is often not a website. It's a Google Business Profile, and most of them are half-finished.

Search for a bakery, a clinic or a printer near you, and look at what appears first. Usually it's a map, three businesses and their profiles.

That listing is a Google Business Profile. It's free. For many local searches it gets seen before any website. And it's one of the sources AI tools draw on when they describe a business.

Yet many profiles are left half-finished: no hours, blurry photos, an old phone number and reviews with no replies.

What a complete profile includes

  • The right name and category. Your real business name and the most accurate primary category. The category strongly affects which searches you appear in.
  • Address or service area. Your exact location, or the areas you serve if customers don't visit you.
  • Hours, including holidays. Update them for Ramazan, Eid and public holidays. Wrong hours cost customers and trust.
  • Phone, website and messaging. Make sure every contact option actually works.
  • Description. A plain explanation of what you do and for whom.
  • Products or services. List them with short descriptions.
  • Photos. Real photos of your storefront, team, products and work, with new ones added regularly.

Reviews matter, and so do replies

Reviews influence both rankings and customers. Ask happy customers for reviews, and make it easy with a direct link.

Reply to every review, good or bad. A thank-you for positive reviews and a calm, specific response to negative ones show that someone is paying attention.

A review with a reply tells the next customer that someone is listening.

Keep it active

Profiles that are kept current tend to do better than ones left alone. Post updates about offers, new products and events. Answer questions people ask on your listing. Add photos every month.

Common mistakes

  • Choosing a vague category instead of the most specific one.
  • Stuffing keywords into the business name, which can get a profile suspended.
  • Letting someone else, such as a former employee or agency, own the profile. Make sure your business controls it.
  • Ignoring duplicate or outdated listings, which split your reviews and confuse search and AI tools.

Finish your profile in an afternoon

  • Exact name, most specific category
  • Address or service area
  • Hours, including Eid and Ramazan
  • Phone, website and messaging that work
  • A plain description of what you do
  • Real photos, added monthly
  • A reply to every review

Why it matters for AI answers too

When someone asks an AI assistant about businesses near them, the details it gives, such as opening hours, location, category and reviews, often come from business listings. An outdated profile can mean an AI tool tells a customer you're closed when you're open, or sends them to an address you left last year.

Keeping your profile accurate is no longer only about Maps. It's about every place your business gets described.

Start this week

Search for your business on Google and Maps, and check every detail as a customer would. Then spend an afternoon finishing what's missing. Few marketing tasks give back this much for so little effort.

Questions people ask

Is Google Business Profile free?

Yes. Creating and managing a Business Profile on Google costs nothing.

Can I add keywords to my business name on Google?

No. Google's guidelines don't permit unnecessary information in the business name, and doing it can lead to suspension.

Should I reply to negative reviews?

Yes, calmly and specifically. Replies show future customers that someone is paying attention.
